Cars in Germany's City Found Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Police mentioned they were alerted by a man who found a automobile in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Around fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a statement.

Police state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The fluid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.

Officers then found many other vandalized cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say early analysis show the fluid was probably human blood.

"At present there remains no clue as to its source; authorities are presently not aware of any injuries in relation with the incident," they added.

Local authorities announced they were working "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the community for information.

An important political figure said the attack made him speechless and required to be addressed rapidly.

"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a shooter targeting individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
